The result changes the distance and time units together while preserving the same speed. The table shows equivalent rates in all five units. Speed is a nonnegative magnitude here; direction is not represented, so this is not a vector velocity calculation.

The formula
Each factor converts both the distance unit and the time unit. A kilometre per hour is 1,000/3,600 metres per second. A mile per hour uses the international mile of 1,609.344 metres; a knot uses a nautical mile of 1,852 metres per hour.
Sixty miles per hour
Enter 60 with From set to Miles per hour and To set to Kilometres per hour. The result is 96.56064 km/h. The same speed is 26.8224 metres per second or 88 feet per second.

Changing the hour to seconds matters
Dividing kilometres by metres is only half the conversion. An hour contains 3,600 seconds, so 36 kilometres per hour becomes 10 metres per second rather than 36,000 metres per second.
A dimensional check helps: multiplying by metres per kilometre and hours per second cancels the original unit names and leaves metres per second.
A speed is not a travel-time prediction
Converting a cruising speed does not account for stops, acceleration, changing conditions, or a route longer than its straight-line distance. To estimate time, you also need a compatible distance and an assumption about average speed.
Knots are nautical miles per hour, not ordinary miles per hour. This distinction matters when comparing a marine or aviation reading with a road-speed value. Pace units such as minutes per kilometre are reciprocals of speed and are not included.

Common questions
Is one knot the same as one mile per hour?
No. The knot uses a nautical mile, while mph here uses the international land mile.
Can I convert a running pace?
A pace such as 5 minutes per kilometre is time per distance. Convert it to a speed first; the selectors here contain distance per time.
Why do all units show zero for a zero input?
A stationary object has zero speed in each supported unit. Changing units does not create motion.
