The result shows both the percentage and the exact formula used. The VTU preset applies specifically to the BE/BTech 2022 regulations; custom mode records a calculation, not an official equivalence certificate.

The formula
A conversion formula maps one scale to another. It cannot infer a student’s original subject marks. Two institutions can legitimately map the same CGPA to different percentages, so selecting the correct regulation is part of the calculation.
Worked example
A CGPA of 8.2 under the VTU BE/BTech 2022 rule becomes 8.2 × 10 = 82%. As a separate illustration, a custom rule of (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 maps 8.0 to 72.5%. The latter is only an entered example rule, not a preset for every university.

Avoid a universal multiplication rule
The frequently repeated ×9.5 shortcut is not a universal Indian university rule. A programme’s regulations, graduation scheme, or official conversion letter can specify a different factor or an offset. Do not select a method solely because it gives a more favorable number. If your institution supplies a lookup table or nonlinear rule, this linear-formula calculator is not the right substitute.
Rounding and application forms
The display keeps up to two decimal places after applying the formula to your input. An employer or admission portal may ask for a different number of decimal places, or may require the original CGPA instead. Retain the transcript and conversion regulation when submitting an application. This output does not convert an Indian ten-point result into a US four-point GPA.

Can I use this VTU preset for every VTU batch?
No. The preset names the BE/BTech 2022 scheme. Verify your own regulations before applying it to another programme or scheme.
Why does a custom formula show an error?
A valid percentage must lie between zero and one hundred here. An out-of-range result usually means the offset, factor, or CGPA scale does not match.
